IT’S business as usual tomorrow.
That’s the word from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama as Severe Tropical Cyclone Keni continues to move south easterly within Fiji waters.
And according to the PM, transportation services are expected to resume tomorrow in areas that were not washed out or unsafe.
During a briefing at the National Disaster Management Office in Suva today, Mr Bainimarama said civil servants were expected to return to their posts with supermarkets and shops opening for normal business.
Inter-island shipping services remain suspended.
“The recommendation is that they don’t go out to sea. STC Keni is still very much in our waters,” the PM said.
Schools in the Western Division and Labasa will remain closed until further notice while schools in the Central and Eastern divisions will be opened tomorrow and some parts of the North.
STC Keni was located 110 kilometres southeast of Kadavu and 80km southwest of Matuku at 6pm. It is moving east southeast at about 39km/hour.
Rain is expected to ease tomorrow for the rest of the Fiji Group, though flood warnings remain in force for some parts of the country.
A hurricane warning remains in force for Ono-i-Lau while a storm warning has been issued for Matuku and Totoya.
